MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – In January-May Br23.9 trillion worth of capital investment was utilized in Belarus, up 131% as against January-May 2010, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics Committee. In Brest Oblast the capital investment rose by 10.5% over the same period in 2010 to Br3,365 billion, in Vitebsk Oblast by 17.4% (Br2,270.5 billion), Gomel Oblast by 23.9% (Br3,525 billion), Grodno Oblast by 44.6% (Br2,767.2 billion), Minsk Oblast by 56% (Br4,940.8 billion), Mogilev Oblast by 42.9% (Br2,415.9 billion), in Minsk by 25.7% (Br4,563.9 billion). Over the five months Br11.7 trillion of installation and construction works were performed, up 25% over January-May 2010 in comparable prices. The expenses on the purchase of machines, equipment and vehicles amounted to Br9.7 trillion, or 153.6% as against the same period last year. These expenses accounted for 40.8% of the total investments, the imported equipment accounted for 24.1%. Some 24.1% of foreign equipment was purchased on the territory of Belarus.
