MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Belarus plans to attract Austrian investments in the Belarusian Steel Works to set up a joint venture for final finishing of seamless hot-rolled pipes, Deputy Industry Minister of Belarus Vitaly Prima told media on 10 November. The official said that a number of negotiations had been held during the visit of the Austrian delegation to Minsk on joint projects with the BMZ, MAZ and the Minsk Motor Plant. Thus, in 2012-2013 the two countries plan to open a joint company to provide finish operations on seamless hot-rolled pipes. The project is estimated at $100 million. The capacity of the future plant will make up 100,000 tonnes of products per year. Besides, the talks were held between the Minsk Motor Plant, MAZ and Raba Engines Group, a large engine producer in Austria. The sides discussed the ways to develop cooperation in what regards the supplies of car parts as well as joint designing of Euro-5 and Euro-6 engines for the Belarusian car industry. One more project was considered with the participation of the Siemens Company for the delivery of equipment for the Belarusian Steel Works. The project will help enhance labor productivity at the Belarusian company. БЕЛТА
