MINSK, 23 November (BelTA) – Belarus is planning to launch the production of road equipment and a new CHP plant in Venezuela, First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said at the forum Venezuela-Belarus: Achievements and Prospects of Bilateral Relations on 23 November, BelTA has learned. “We have signed a contract and virtually started the construction of a plant to produce municipal and road equipment,” Vladimir Semashko said. The enterprise will manufacture lift trucks, road construction equipment and other machines. The project will be implemented with the participation of Belarus’ Amkodor. The new plant will produce 3,000 vehicles per year. Vladimir Semashko added that by the end of the year Belarus will establish a new plant to manufacture MAZ cars in Venezuela. The new plant’s capacity will make up 5,000 cars per year. In January 2012 the facility is expected to start assembling vehicles. The project will create more jobs in Venezuela. “We have agreed to reach maximum localization of this industry in five years. This is an important project for MAZ as the company will ramp up production,” Vladimir Semashko said. Moreover, the construction of an assembly line for Belarusian tractors will be completed in Venezuela soon. By the year-end Belarusian specialists will finish the construction of a porcelain plant with the capacity of 100 million tonnes per year. Vladimir Semashko stressed that the terms of these projects are rather tight but feasible. Belarus is currently in talks to implement one more energy project in Venezuela. The negotiations to build a CHP plant with the capacity of 800 mega-watts are in the final stage, Vladimir Semashko said.
