MINSK, 26 December (BelTA) - Belarus and Turkey are preparing to conclude a legal assistance agreement, BelTA learnt from the Supreme Economic Court of Belarus. The draft agreement between the two countries was discussed at a meeting in the Justice Ministry of Belarus. Experts from Belarus and Turkey considered the issues relating to the formalization of the agreement, its certain provisions, and content of some articles. Most of the comments and proposals were due to differences in the legislation and judicial systems in the two states. Particular attention was paid to the interaction through central authorities, as well as to the proposal of the Turkish delegation to specify the terms of reference of each of Belarus’ central authority. In the end, the parties reached understanding on all articles of the draft agreement, noted the Supreme Economic Court. The future agreement would equal the rights of citizens of Belarus staying in Turkey with the rights of Turkish citizens. It would give Belarusians the right to appeal to justice bodies of Turkey, sue, and make motions. In addition, the document will allow judicial and law enforcement authorities of Belarus to exercise various procedural action in Turkey: interrogate suspects and witnesses, conduct searches, seize property.
