MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) – In 2013 Belarus will start producing passenger railway cars for electric mass transit systems, BelTA learned from Alexander Turchin, Chairman of the Economy Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee. The Minsk city administration is now busy preparing an investment contract on the Belarusian-Swiss production of railway passenger transport, an authorized fund is being formed. The construction of the enterprise is expected to begin by the end of 2012. The enterprise is expected to roll out the first railway cars in 2013. The Swiss company Stadler Rail AG will invest about ?10 million in the construction of the enterprise. Later on the project will use loans from foreign banks, said the official. The Belarusian side is represented by the OAO Belkommunmash Holding Management Company, which four manufacturing buildings will constitute a contribution in kind to the authorized fund. In line with Belarus President decree No. 322 on the production of electric passenger railway transport of 20 July 2012 the investment project will run in 2012-2016.
