MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) – The Days of Azerbaijani Culture will open in Belarus on 9 October, BelTA has learnt. On 8 October the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus will host a photo exhibition “Azerbaijan: Fusion of Traditions and Modern Age”. The exhibition will include the works by well-known photographers such as Farid Khayrulin, Tair Mamedov, Mirnaib Gasanoglu, and others. The photos feature ancient historical monuments and a contemporary view of the country. The Pobeda cinema house will screen Azerbaijani films on 8-10 October. On 9 October the Belarusian audience will see the Azerbaijani ballet “Seven Beauties” on stage of the Belarusian Bolshoi Theatre. Seven Beauties by Gara Garayev, well-known Azerbaijani composer, is based on the Seven Beauties poem by Nizami Ganjavi from the 12th century. Seven Beauties is the fourth poem of Nizami from his immortal "The Five". The poem describes the life and deeds of the ancient King Bahram, and also includes fabulous short stories told by seven wives of Bahram – princesses from seven countries living in seven palaces, each of which has its own color for a specific day of the week. Seven Beauties was premiered in the Azerbaijan Opera and Ballet Theater in 1952. In the early 1990s the show was removed from the repertoire. The stage decorations wore out, and the libretto written in Soviet times required adjustments. The ballet was back on stage in 2008. Pierre Cardin who attended the premiere in Baku said: "Paris should see this ballet!". The modern ballet Seven Beauties is a brand new production, philosophical, symbolical with a fairytale thread. The organizers of Azerbaijani Days of Culture in Belarus are the culture ministries of the two countries. БЕЛТА
