MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) – Belarusian Culture Minister Pavel Latushko and Minister of Culture and Information of Serbia Bratislav Petkovic signed a cooperation program in the field of culture and art for 2012-2017. The document approved by the two ministries was signed after the talks at the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus. Thus, the countries agreed to develop contacts in the field of music and theater, cinematography, library, museum and exhibition prorgams, and protection of the historical-cultural heritage. According to the head of the Belarusian ministry Pavel Latushko, the signing of the programs have actually formalized the relations which have lately been particularly vibrant. The minister recalled that in 2010 the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad welcomed renowned Serbian Director Emir Kusturica as guest of honor, who received one of the festival main awards - special prize of the head of State “For the preservation and development of traditions of spirituality in cinema.” In addition, last year a cooperation agreement was signed between the theaters of the two countries. In 2012, the agreement was sealed between the national libraries. Not so long ago Belarus hosted a concert by the musician and composer Goran Bregovic. For the Culture Ministry it is important to create the corresponding legal framework. The program signed today will promote further mutual work,” Pavel Latushko noted. Mr Bratislav Petkovic added that he views Belarus as a brotherly country.
