Belarus, China to produce super-powerful tractors for China

24.01.2014

Belarus and China have plans to start manufacturing super-powerful tractors for China’s agricultural industry. The matter was discussed during the visit of Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich to Belarus-China joint ventures in Harbin on 23 January, BelTA has learnt.“The task set by Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang is very ambitious from the technological and commercial points of view. Li Keqiang wants to establish the manufacture of super-powerful tractors for China’s agribusiness,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said as he met with Head of Dong Jin Group Zhang Dajun. “These tractors will have the capacity of 500 horsepower and higher. Neither Belarus nor China has such tractors yet,” the Belarusian Premier said. China upheld this proposal and is ready to provide any assistance to it. China is also enthusiastic about Belarus’ suggestion to start joint production of other farm machines. The Belarusian Premier informed his Chinese partners that Belarus is developing a series of attachments to agricultural machinery, including for sowing, harvesting and tillage machines. He suggested locating the new production facility at one of Belarus-China joint ventures in Harbin. The parties discussed a number of other matters related to cooperation and joint production facilities. Zhang Dajun emphasized that there is a great demand for farm machines in China. Equipment manufactured by the joint ventures Harbin Dong Jin Gomel Agricultural Mechanical Engineering Enterprise and Harbin Dong Jin Minsk Tractor sells well, too. The former assembles self-propelled fodder harvesters KSK-600-06 and machines to harvest ears of corn. In 2013 the company rolled out about 900 machines. It has plans to increase the output up to 3,000. Harbin Dong Jin Minsk Tractor specializes in the production of energy-intensive tractors. Mikhail Myasnikovich toured the two companies on 23 January. Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich is on an official visit to China on 19-23 January. The Belarusian Premier met with President Xi Jinping, Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Communist Party of Guangdong Province, Guangdong Governor Zhu Xiaodan and other high-ranking officials. The Belarusian Premier also held talks with senior executives of ZTE, Sinomach, BUCC, СITIC, China Investment Corporation. The meetings resulted in cooperation agreements and agreements to implement joint projects. A total of 29 interstate and regional instruments and two contracts were signed. The major achievement of the visit was the adoption of the cooperation roadmap for 2014-2018 containing an action plan to promote cooperation in politics, economy, science, culture and other fields.
