Working groups established to straighten Belarusian agriculture, utilities

 Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has set up working groups to resolve problems in the Belarusian housing services and utilities industry and agriculture. Alexander Lukashenko signed the relevant instructions on 4 February, the press service of the head of state told BelTA.A working group led by Chairman of the State Control Committee Alexander Yakobson will take care of examining problems relating to housing services and utilities.The group will include heads of several central government agencies, municipal executive bodies, and heads of individual research and design organizations, who know these problems well.The working group is supposed to come up with and implement concrete proposals to resolve housing issues and further develop the housing services and utilities industry, including by means of preparing the necessary draft legal acts for the sake of improving the management structure, pricing practices, improving the quality of services, interact with individuals, and improve the effectiveness of the housing services and utilities industry.The working group will be able to involve heads and specialists of national government agencies, oblast administrations, the Minsk City Executive Committee, and other organizations as well as other persons with the necessary qualifications and practical experience.The working group will have to report results to the Belarus President by 31 May.An interagency working group led by Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich has been set up to deal with problems in agribusiness.The group comprises 26 people. The number includes the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Deputy Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate, the chairpersons of the National Statistics Committee, the State Property Committee, the Belarusian state food industry concern Belgospishcheprom, the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, the Minsk District Executive Committee, the Agriculture and Food Minister and the deputy, the deputy ministers for economy, finance, internal affairs, taxes and duties, directors general of agrarian R&D centers of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, representatives of Belarusian banks, famous heads of top-performing agricultural companies, and other specialists.The working group is supposed to work out concrete proposals to resolve problems that pester Belarusian agriculture. Among other things the group will have to work out ways to improve profits and profitability of agricultural companies, reduce debts and insolvency rate of agricultural companies, prime costs of products, in particular, meat and milk, grass forage. Solutions are wanted to improve the effectiveness of basic production assets and modernize them, encourage animal breeding and seed breeding, cattle productivity, reduce the spending of forage per product unit, improve the human resources potential of agricultural companies.A complex report on the development of the agribusiness complex and draft relevant legal acts are supposed to be submitted to the President by 10 March.
