Belarus committed to partnership with Venezuela

24.04.2014

Once again the Belarusian side would like to confirm the inviolability of the foreign policy in favor of strategic partnership with Venezuela. The statement was made by Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei as he met with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Elias Jaua Milano on 24 April, BelTA has learned. “We consider your visit as a token of intent towards further stronger interstate dialogue with Belarus and the expansion of the bilateral cooperation,” said the Belarusian Foreign Minister. He remarked that the two countries had created a reliable political and economic base of interaction. Vladimir Makei underlined that support for each other is indispensable in the present difficult global financial and economic conditions and the conditions evolving around both countries. “Belarus-Venezuela relations are not subject to transient factors. It is our principled position,” said the Belarusian Foreign Minister. In his words, the two countries should join efforts to resist the policy, which is often enforced from the outside, should step up national security, and secure better living standards for the two nations. In turn, Elias Jaua Milano remarked that his every visit to Minsk invokes good emotions and reminds him of Hugo Chavez and the friendship with the Belarus president that the politician started when he was alive. The Venezuelan Foreign Minister pointed out that since 2006 Belarus-Venezuela relations have evolved into more than 40 projects with concrete results. Those include road construction and housing construction, cooperation in power engineering and so on. “This is why President Maduro has asked me to visit Minsk in order to once again assure you of the intention to advance and deepen our cooperation,” noted the Venezuelan Foreign Minister. He was convinced that it is necessary to continue the joint work aimed at building a world without external interference. “We reaffirm our approaches towards building a multipolar world. We believe that Belarus is one of the countries at the forefront of the new world’s construction. We believe Belarus is our strategic partner,” said Elias Jaua Milano.
