The Belarus-Russia regional forum has opened up new opportunities for cooperation, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Anatoly Rubinov told media on 5 June, BelTA has learned. “The forum gave a new impetus although we have good interregional relations,” Anatoly Rubinov said. In his words, the President of Belarus has long been supporting regional ties in particular. “Nevertheless such a large-scale event on the issue has been staged for the first time,” the Speaker said. Anatoly Rubinov emphasized the importance that the forum had gathered managers that agreed on concrete projects. In his words, the two countries need to secure themselves with food and develop its export. According to the Chairman of the Council of the Republic, with the right approach it is almost an inexhaustible export resource. Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko noted for her part that such regional cooperation yields results. The fact that 80 entities of the Russian Federation cooperate with Belarusian regions speaks volumes. “This cooperation brings concrete results for both parties,” the Chairperson of the upper chamber of the Russian parliament stressed. She stressed that the forum is hailed at the highest level. Valentina Matviyenko expressed hope that in the future such forums would be attended by Kazakhstan as well. According to her, the Troika regional forum can be held in 2016.
