Belarus, Serbia to step up interaction in OSCE

12.06.2014

Belarus and Serbia intend to bolster interaction on the OSCE platform. The intention is stipulated by the joint statement made by the presidents of the two countries in Belgrade on 12 June, BelTA has learned. “In view of Serbia's forthcoming presidency in the OSCE in 2015 the presidents have expressed the readiness of the two countries to expand mutual cooperation within the framework of this European organization for the sake of enabling an equal and balanced dialogue on security and cooperation matters while preserving the principles that the Helsinki Final Act relies on and preserving the principle of consensus as the key one,” the document reads. The presidents also spoke in favor of further improving the OSCE effectiveness and continuing the process of the organization's formation within the framework of international law. The statement also underscores the mutual absolute belief that only an unhindered, equal and productive dialogue can help settle international discords.
