Customs Union members yet to deal with antimonopoly regulations

17.06.2014

Member states of the Customs Union will have to deal with antimonopoly regulations, BelTA learned from Nurlan Aldabergenov, member of the Board (Minister) for Competition and Antimonopoly Regulations of the Eurasian Economic Commission, at the international science and practice conference held in Minsk on 17 June to discuss the reality and prospects of the Eurasian Economic Union. According to Nurlan Aldabergenov, peculiarities of antimonopoly regulations are very important for Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Russia, therefore each country is busy improving the relevant legislation. “Competition legislation has to be progressive, up-to-date and the norms it contains have to support and develop our business,” he stressed. Speaking about the improvement of antimonopoly regulations in the Customs Union, the Minister pointed out the need for norms to protect the domestic market, to enable equal operation terms and an equal competition field. The promotion of merchandise to foreign markets and the saving of state budget funds are part of it. “A model law on competition has been worked out to address these tasks. It is a recommendatory law adopted at the level of heads of state that contains the best antimonopoly regulations of the Customs Union member states and the world's leading countries,” noted Nurlan Aldabergenov. Some norms of the model law are being implemented into the national legislation of the Customs Union member states. “I think that by the end of 2014 the relevant document will be submitted to the Belarus parliament,” said the Minister. In his words, similar work is in progress in Kazakhstan and Russia.
