Belarus plans to increase dairy supplies to Russia by yearend

09.09.2014

By yearend Belarus plans to increase dairy supplies to Russia by 38%, and its meat deliveries by approximately 30%, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Vasily Sedin told media on 9 September, BelTA has learned.
Belarus and Russia sign balance sheets of mutual supplies of sugar, dairy and meat products on an annual basis. However, due to the Russian embargo on certain groups of commodities from the European countries, Belarus will increase its food exports. “As for dairy products, we plan to increase our supplies by 38% as against August-December 2013. The increase in meat deliveries will make up about 30% over the period,” Vasily Sedin said.
Last year Belarus exported nearly $5.6 billion worth of agricultural products. This year the country plans to earn up to $6 billion on the food exports to more than 10 countries.
Today Belarus exports over 50% of its dairy products and more than 30% of its meat output. “We have a potential to build up exports and we are doing it,” the official said.
