Belarus, Moldova discuss cooperation between banking systems

Chairperson of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus Nadezhda Yermakova and President of the National Bank of Moldova Dorin Dragutanu met in Chisinau to discuss cooperation between the banking systems of Belarus and Moldova and collaboration between the national banks, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Belarus in Moldova.
Nadezhda Yermakova is taking part in the 32nd meeting of the club of governors of central banks of Central Asia, Black Sea and Balkan countries in Chisinau. On 12 September she is expected to present the economic situation in the Republic of Belarus, the implementation of the monetary policy and the state of the banking sector.
Attending the event are governors of central banks of 24 countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkey and Ukraine. The forum discusses the advantages of inflation targeting for economy, the role of the floating exchange rate for curbing domestic and foreign economic shocks and the issues related to the development of a policy and instruments for macro-prudential surveillance for securing financial stability.
The club of governors of central banks of Central Asia, Black Sea and Balkan countries was founded in May 1998. Members of the forum meet twice a year with an aim at preserving financial stability in the region, improving cooperation in the banking sphere. The main goals of the club include proper functioning of the monetary and currency markets, intensification of economic cooperation, capital flow to the developing markets, aspects of banking supervision, development of national payment systems.
