Belarus prime minister talks to U.S. president in New York

While in New York following the invitation of U.S. President Barack Obama Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich and the charge d'affaires ad interim of Belarus in the USA attended the reception for heads of the delegations, who had arrived to participate in the UN General Assembly session.
During the brief protocol meeting with the U.S. President Mikhail Myasnikovich delivered the best wishes from the President of the Republic of Belarus to the American head of state.
During the reception the Belarusian head of government talked to the presidents of Serbia, Croatia, Latvia, Finland, the ministers of foreign affairs of Lithuania, Kazakhstan, and Bahrein. In particular, the President of Serbia expressed interest in developing friendly contacts with Belarus' leadership and in continuing the implementation of mutually beneficial projects.
Mikhail Myasnikovich also talked to Ron Johnson, U.S. Senator for the State of Wisconsin, senior ranking Republican in the Subcommittee on European Affairs. Ron Johnson thanked the Belarusian side for the principled stance of the country's leadership on Ukraine and said he hopes that Belarus will continue playing a significant role in resolving the conflict.
In his speech before participants of the reception the U.S. President spoke at length about the key challenges facing the international community at present. He mentioned the crisis in Ukraine as the second ranking challenge. Mentioning operations of militants of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, Barack Obama underlined that religion must not be used as a cover for selfish goals and purposes. According to the U.S. President, all the countries of the world should overcome their differences of opinion and unite efforts to address global challenges.
