Competition blamed for Belarus-Russia trade dispute

28.11.2014

The quality of Belarusian products is absolutely superb. The current problems with selling Belarusian products in Russia are just a way to beat competition, BelTA learned from Vice Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Rusyi on 28 November.
“It is one of the ways to beat competition. I am absolutely confident in the quality of our products,” stressed Mikhail Rusyi.
A number of Belarusian companies have suspended their shipments to Russia. “We will fix the situation. If there are problems, let's say, with the [African swine fever virus] genome, let's introduce monitoring. The safety of products is our concern, too. We believe that all the other issues are far-fetched,” noted the Vice Prime Minister.
Mikhail Rusyi stressed that control should be put in place on both sides instead of one direction. “We should streamline the work with prevention in mind. Every day veterinary and sanitary services detect and stop dozens of violations starting at manufacturing facilities and ending with shops. But these services have been created to deal with these problems fast instead of blowing them out of proportion,” said Mikhail Rusyi.
