Gazprom Gazomotornoye Toplivo, Gazprom Transgaz Belarus sign cooperation roadmap

01.12.2014

Director General of Gazprom Gazomotornoye Toplivo Mikhail Likhachev and Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Belarus Vladimir Mayorov have signed a roadmap for cooperation in the development of the Belarusian gas motor fuel market, BelTA learned from the press service of Gazprom Gazomotornoye Toplivo.
“The project aims to develop the infrastructure for the production and sale of compressed and liquefied natural gas, comprehensive development of the gas motor fuel market in Belarus, and the establishment of international corridors for transport using natural gas as motor fuel,” according to the press service.
The action plan of the roadmap also envisages active interaction with government bodies in the application of stimulating mechanisms for purchasing equipment fuelled by natural gas, and cooperation with the manufacturers of automobiles in the development of gas cylinder equipment production. Therefore, the construction of gas-filling infrastructure facilities will be synchronized with the programs of purchasing gas-powered transport.
“Broader use of natural gas by transport vehicles will promote energy and ecological security of the republic and will make a serious contribution to raising the competitiveness of the economy by means of reducing fuel costs,” Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Belarus Vladimir Mayorov said.
Gazprom Gazomotornoye Toplivo is the single operator of Gazprom responsible for the development of the gas motor fuel market. The company was established in 2012. It aims to promote the use of natural gas as motor fuel as it is the most environmentally-friendly, efficient and safe kind of fuel.
Gazprom Transgaz Belarus is an affiliated company of Russia's Gazprom. The Russian company owns 100% of shares of the Belarusian company. Gazprom Transgaz Belarus operates a vast gas transportation system in Belarus. The cross-country pipelines in Belarus are used to transport Russian natural gas to Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast, to Lithuania, Ukraine, and Poland. The company operates 27 NGV refueling compressor stations.
