Lukashenko: Belarus is in favor of abolishing all sanctions

12.12.2014

Belarus advocates the abolition of all kinds of sanctions as they have a direct influence on the living standards of ordinary people, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said as he received credentials of foreign ambassadors on 12 December, BelTA has learnt.
The head of state stressed that the year 2014 has been one of the most difficult years in the world politics over the past years. “Some states are eager not only to influence regional processes but also to change the global balance of powers,” the President said. In his words, the result is obvious: tensions are escalating in the world, trust in partners is decreasing, and sanctions are imposed.
“Belarus is in favor of equal cooperation without pressure and coercion between countries. We advocate the abolition of all kinds of sanctions as they have a direct influence on the living standards of people,” Alexander Lukashenko remarked.
According to the President, the complexity of the present-day situation, weakening of the role of international organizations in addressing global issues raise the importance of bilateral ties, friendship and productive cooperation between states.
“Our country is going to do its best in this area,” the head of state said. He expressed hope that the activities of diplomats will help enhance mutually beneficial ties between Belarus and the countries they represent. According to Alexander Lukashenko, today's ceremony has brought together diplomats from various corners of the world.
