On behalf of the head of state, Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov honored distinguished Belarusians with state awards on 8 May, BelTA has learned. “It is quite symbolic that our solemn ceremony is held in the run-up to the major national celebration, the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. Selfless and dedicated work has always been the source of prosperity for the Belarusian nation and the foundation of the country's independence,” Andrei Kobyakov stressed. The list of awardees featured over 80 people. Industrial workers, healthcare professionals, customs officers, educators, scientists, and cultural workers have been honored in recognition of their hard and fruitful work, exemplary execution of their duties and prominent achievements in industrial production, construction, scientific research, improvement of the electric power system and implementation of the state information policy, the great personal contribution to the development of the national healthcare system, transport services, culture, art, and sports. When presenting the state awards to chief executives of industrial enterprises, Andrei Kobyakov emphasized that the present and the future of the Belarusian economy depends on them. “Export, its diversification and profitability are the main criteria for assessing your performance this year,” the Prime Minister noted. “A number of great Belarusian art workers have been honored with the high awards. The Belarusian culture has always set the great examples of public and moral service promoting ideas of peace and benevolence. We should also remember that innovations and an open competitive economy are among Belarus' priorities. We all should work to achieve these goals. Only by joint efforts we can make our life better,” Andrei Kobyakov pointed out. The Prime Minister congratulated everyone on the awards and wished them success and new achievements.
