Belarus to continue liberalization of working conditions for SMEs

30.07.2015

Liberalization of working conditions for small and medium-sized enterprises will be continued in Belarus, Deputy Director for Entrepreneurship of the Economy Ministry Piotr Arushanyants said at a roundtable to discuss SMEs development on 29 July, BelTA has learned. A new wording of Directive No.4 to foster the development of entrepreneurship Initiative and stimulate business activity will be out soon. “A new program document has been developed to boost the development of the principles laid down in Directive No.4. The document has been submitted to the government and the President's Administration,” said Piotr Arushanyants. The new document will promote liberalization of working conditions, strengthen SMEs competitive edge, create equal conditions for market actors. There are plans to develop a set of measures to provide a business owner with additional rights. According to Piotr Arushanyants, one third of the workforce in Belarus is engaged in small and medium-sized business today. SMEs account for 25% of Belarus' GDP. “Some 15 years ago SMEs' share was only 10%. SMEs' share is bigger in European countries. However, we have a potential to grow further,” Piotr Arushanyants added.
