Belarus' GDP growth at 5.9 in 2011-2015

03.03.2016

In 2011-2015 Belarus' GDP growth made up 5.9%, Belarus' First Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Zaborovsky said as he met with members of the permanent commission for economic policy of the House of Representatives, BelTA has learned.
“For the past five years our economy has added 5.9%,” he said.
The country was expected to have reached better results. Due to the fact that Belarus is integrated, in this or that degree, into the global financial system, it could not escape the global trends that have occurred in recent years. Alexander Zaborovsky noted that now it is difficult to predict the trends at the global level. But the Government of Belarus aims to ensure that by 2020, the GDP growth should exceed the global average.
When asked whether such goals were feasible, Alexander Zaborovsky said that no government can think of recession as its goal for the future.
As was reported, the government submitted its program of action for 2016-2020 to the House of Representatives. The MPs are set to review the document at the beginning of the upcoming spring session, on 4-6 April.
