The draft strategy to improve the governance of state-owned
enterprises (SOEs) will be completed soon, Aleksei Vasilyev, First
Deputy Chairman of the State Property Committee of Belarus, told
reporters on 21 February, BelTA has learned.

“We need a core document that would provide guidance in property
rights. With this in mind, we have drafted the strategy to enhance the
governance of state-owned companies. It will be ready soon,” Aleksei
Vasilyev noted.

The strategy will determine the basic principles of state policy in
the management of state-owned companies and improving their efficiency.
The document will set up a framework for the application of property
rights. It will determine which property will remain state-owned and
which will be transferred into municipal ownership, who will operate the
 enterprises of strategic importance, etc.

“When working on the document, we have studied the practices used in
other states. We interpreted them taking into account our country's
interests, in particular the social ones. The government has
pre-approved the draft and recently discussed it once again. We expect
that it will be approved soon,” Aleksei Vasilyev said.
