Belarus is ready to share its best practices in the maintenance of
security and public order with Vietnam, Belarus President Alexander
Lukashenko said as he met with Vietnam Minister of Public Security To
Lam on 2 March, BelTA has learned.
The head of state remarked that Vietnam is a vigorously developing
Asian country. “Over the past ten years, we have created the material
foundation and the basis of our relations, increased the bilateral trade
three times. Moreover, we have outlined a serious roadmap for the
development of our relations. It makes Vietnam one of Belarus' priority
partners in Southeast Asia,” the President said.
Alexander Lukashenko stressed that stability and security which are
the main areas of focus for law enforcement agencies are among the major
factors of Vietnam's vigorous development. “I want to assure you that
we will do our best to help Vietnam be a stable and safe country. We are
ready to share our best practices with our friends in Vietnam. You
should know that the Belarusian government and I personally will provide
comprehensive assistance in this field,” he said.
The head of state pointed out the importance of personnel training.
“If you are satisfied with the Belarusian system of personnel training,
we are ready to do our best to help you introduce the system in general
or certain elements of it in Vietnam,” the President said.
Alexander Lukashenko deems it necessary to ensure the free movement
of people from Vietnam to Belarus and vice versa. “At the same time, we
must stop bad people and join our efforts in the fight against crimes,
drug trafficking, terrorism. We have certain experience. If you need it,
we can share it with you,” he said.
The President mentioned the fact that the meeting takes place in the
run-up to the 100th anniversary of Belarusian police. “We have a very
good foundation of relations. We have experienced a lot together with
Vietnam, fought together for the freedom and independence of your
nation. We have done a lot for the development of your state. There were
many Belarusians among those Soviet people,” the head of state said.
“We are your friends; you can feel at home in Belarus. I want you to
know that we will always support the Vietnamese people and you
personally,” the Belarusian leader added.
To Lam, in turn, thanked the Belarusian President for the meeting and
conveyed greetings from the leadership of Vietnam. He also remarked
that this year the countries will mark the 25th anniversary of
diplomatic relations and praised the positive effect from the previous
top-level visits.
A necessary legal framework has been created to support the
activities of law enforcement bodies of Belarus and Vietnam meeting
their requirements in the resolution of the operational and service
tasks. The interaction with the Vietnamese side is regulated by the
agreement on legal aid and legal relations in civil, family, labor, and
criminal cases, agreements on cooperation between the law enforcement
agencies of the two countries.
The sides exchange visits in various fields. The cooperation in
personnel training has been organized. Several groups of Vietnamese
specialists were trained the canine center in Belarus. Vietnamese
specialists study at the Interior Ministry Academy of Belarus, including
at the international center of training, professional advancement, and
retraining in migration and prevention of human trafficking.
