Belarus and Ukraine will manage to deal with all the existing
problems for the benefit of their peoples, Belarus President Alexander
Lukashenko said as he met with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro
Poroshenko on 26 April, BelTA has learned.
“Today we will be discussing our future and the ways to make lives of
the Belarusians and Ukrainians better. We can do it. We will deal with
the problems we have today,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
As an example, the president cited the successes in the development
of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. In the
first months of 2017 the trade surged by 40%. Of course, there are a
number of issues that need to be addressed. We are accompanied by
experts and government members. We are ready to discuss the issues and
take concrete decisions. I want to assure: all of the decisions that we
will take with you today will be strictly adhered to by Belarus,” he
said.
The head of state also noted that the Polesie, where the Presidents
of Belarus and Ukraine have met today, is the native land of the peoples
of the two countries. “Here are our roots. This beautiful, lovely
capricious river Pripyat unites us,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
