A delegation of the International Secretariat of the OSCE
Parliamentary Assembly led by OSCE PA Deputy Secretary General Gustavo
Pallares, who arrived in Belarus on 2 May, will discuss the preparations
for the 26th PA summer session in Minsk, BelTA learned from the press
service of the House of Representatives.
The visit will last until 5 May. The delegation is set to meet with
Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives Boleslav Pirshtuk and to
hold working meetings with representatives of government bodies to
discuss the preparations for the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly annual
session.
The OSCE PA International Secretariat delegation will visit the main
venues of the session, including the administrative compound at 14
Pobeditelei Avenue and The President Hotel.
As BelTA earlier reported, Belarusian MPs keep close contact with the
OSCE PA International Secretariat and are gradually solving practical
issues related to the preparation for the session. This is the first
time that Belarus will host such a large-scale event. This requires
solving a number of fairly complex issues. Delegations of various
countries are already booking accommodation. Work is underway on the
preparation of the main venues of the session, fitting them with
necessary equipment in line with the OSCE PA standards.
Among the key topics to be discussed in Minsk are terrorism,
cybersecurity, protracted conflicts, climate change, migration and
strengthening of the OSCE mechanisms to ensure respect for human rights.
The event will focus on the ways of strengthening mutual trust and
cooperation for peace and prosperity in the OSCE region.
The 26th OSCE PA summer session will take place in Minsk on 5-9 July.
