BFF offers to open specialized football schools in different districts of Minsk

19.12.2018

The Belarusian Football Federation plans to create artificial turf fields on the basis of school sports grounds. The General Secretary of the BFF, Yuri Vergeichik, told today at a meeting with the head of state about the development of summer sports, BelTA informs.
"We would like to propose a project called School Stadium. His idea is to create football fields with artificial turf on the basis of sports grounds of secondary schools and specialized secondary schools," said Yuri Vergeichik.
This project is initially proposed to run in the Belarusian capital. The head of the BFF said that Minsk has great human and financial potential, but the football structure in the city has sharply declined when several stadiums were liquidated.
“Of course, it’s not about every school - it’s very expensive. But it’s necessary to ensure that in every district of Minsk young football players have a place to play football systematically,” he added. In the same Zavodskoy district of the capital there are 100 thousand people, and there is no specialized football school, noted Yuri Vergeichik.
Alexander Lukashenko responded that this issue of the federation should be discussed with the city authorities. “We don’t need nine schools in each district, because we have fields. If six districts are left without fields, then we need not even fields, but a small center,” said the President.
The head of state recalled that the relevant instructions had previously been given to them. “Now we are building new schools or restoring old ones, we are creating different stadiums there: for athletics and football fields. There are such samples,” he added.
