Andreichenko: MPs should be responsive to people's needs

31.01.2019

This year MPs should spare no effort while working with individuals and labor collectives, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said at a session of the House or Representatives on 30 January, BelTA has learned.
Two election campaigns are ahead, which will inevitably lead to increased political activity. “We should prevent discontent in the society. All our efforts to promote economic growth, improve living standards will go down the drain unless we maintain peace and social accord,” Vladimir Andreichenko underlined.
“Social stability is an essential condition for strengthening the sovereignty and independence, promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life of people,” he added.
The speaker noted that the major task of MPs is to be responsive to people's needs. “It is necessary to analyze public initiatives and the reasons behind them, to establish the roots of people's discontent, and to team up with local authorities in order to come to grips with it,” Vladimir Andreichenko underlined.
The Council of the House of Representatives came up with a tentative schedule of the legislative process that features bills to be discussed in the spring session, a plan of international parliamentary cooperation for 2019, and some other matters.
In line with the materials posted on the website of the Central Election Commission, the presidential election should be conducted in Belarus not later than 30 August 2020, while the parliamentary elections are to be held by 10 September 2020.
