Lukashenko welcomes progress in Belarus-Vietnam economic cooperation

12.12.2019
Belarus and Vietnam have done a lot to promote trade and economic relations, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Chairwoman of Vietnam's National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on 12 December, BelTA has learned.
“We have cultivated very good relations based on the history of our countries. Any country can be proud of such a history. It can be a good foundation for promoting cooperation. We have recently done a lot to make our trade and economic relations more successful. We have good positions in politics and international affairs. We have absolutely the same views on the international agenda,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. The Vietnamese parliamentary delegation is on a visit to Belarus on 12-14 December. They are to meet with the speakers of the Council of the Republic and the House of Representatives of the Belarusian parliament Natalya Kochanova and Vladimir Andreichenko, and Prime Minister Sergei Rumas. The Vietnamese MPs are to visit Minsk Automobile Plant and the Adani company that manufactures X-ray devices and other types of medical equipment, as well as Minsk Secondary School No. 201. In January-September, Belarus-Vietnam trade amounted to $153.4 million (about $115 million in entire 2018), with Belarus' export standing at nearly $84 million. Belarus exports to Vietnam potash fertilizers, trucks, tractors, dump trucks, tires, polyamides, engines, medicines, metal products, meat, dairy and alcohol products. Vietnam exports to Belarus mobile phones, office equipment, seafood, rice, nuts, light industry products, natural rubber, processed tropical fruits, tea and coffee.
