Healthcare Ministry continues monitoring situation with COVID-19 in Belarus

18.06.2020
MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – Belarus' Deputy Healthcare Minister Boris Androsyuk visited Osipovichi and Bobruisk in Mogilev Oblast with the monitoring group on 17 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Healthcare Ministry.

“Currently, the hospitals in these cities have everything they need. First of all, we are talking about medicines, consumables and equipment and, of course, PPE for staff. The monitoring team checked the work of the intensive care units very carefully. Sometimes questions arise regarding, for example, the mechanism for removing patients from ventilators. But in general, healthcare workers, even those, who were retrained into infectious diseases specialists at the beginning of the epidemic, already have a perfect knowledge of all the protocols of treatment of these patients and safety rules, correctly use personal protective equipment. Despite the hot weather, doctors and people need to stay vigilant and not forget about their own safety. The virus has not yet been defeated, and we need to constantly remind people of this,” Boris Androsyuk said.

The Healthcare Ministry continues to improve access to specialized medical care and to strengthen the provision of medical facilities with everything necessary. On 17 June, Healthcare Minister Vladimir Karanik monitored this work in Mogilev. “Life goes on, and the Belarusian healthcare system should be ready to provide medical care not only to COVID-19 patients. Epidemics come and end. Given the trend of population ageing, the need for cardiac care will increase, and rapidly developing cities need new clinics. So, today I inspected the progress in the construction of the cardiac surgery division of the Mogilev Regional Clinical Hospital. The new building will be a center of high-tech medical care. In addition, the construction of a clinic in the Kazimirovka neighborhood is nearing completion. Today we discussed the supply of medical equipment and the construction project deadline,” Vladimir Karanik said.

Some Telegram-channels still continue reporting fake news, unfortunately, the ministry added.
