Lukashenko: Sincere and open conversation is the only way to resume relations with Lithuania

16.02.2022

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to the people of Lithuania as the country celebrates the national holiday - Restoration of the State Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"Belarus has always respected the independence and sovereignty of its neighbors, their focus on sustainable economic development and prosperity," the message of greetings reads. "Belarusians and Lithuanians are fraternal peoples who are neighbors and who share the centuries-old history."

The head of state expressed confidence that, despite the pandemic, political and economic problems, the difference of views on security issues, a sincere and open conversation is the only way to resume good-neighborly relations.

"Our experience eloquently shows that during periods of constructive political relations we achieved great successes in all areas of bilateral cooperation," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. “I know that Lithuanians support Belarus that has been following the path of peace and evolutionary development. I believe that in the near future the Lithuanian people will exercise their constitutional right, which will make it possible to get over the difficulties that prevent us from developing effective cooperation today."

The president wished the friendly people of Lithuania peace, the speedy overcoming of internal contradictions and creative work for the benefit of their Fatherland.
