More physical education and field training. What will change in schools from September 1

16.05.2025

From September 1, changes in the standard curriculum of institutions of general secondary education will come into force. BelTA was informed about this by the press service of the Ministry of Education.

In order to form a holistic picture of the world, as well as the ability to critically evaluate historical events, the subject «History of Belarus in the context of world history» will be taught in the 10th and 11th grades.

Among the changes is also an increase in the number of physical education lessons. «In the new school year, instead of two lessons a week on the subject „Physical Culture and Health“, there will be three. This was introduced to increase the motor activity of students and create a comprehensive system of health care in educational institutions. Accordingly, changes will be made to the curriculum on this subject,» the department explained.

In addition, from 2026, school and field meetings will be held for 10 days for all 10th grade students. «For several years, cadets and students of Suvorov have held training and field training after the 10th grade for 10 days. This format has proven itself well and will be extended to everyone. At the same time, the training will begin immediately after the end of classes in the 10th grade on May 26 and continue, as before, until June 5,» the press service informed.

As for inclusive education, taking into account requests from parents of home-schooled students, the typical high school curriculum sets times for mastering the subjects «Fine Art», «Fundamentals of Life Safety», «Art (national and world artistic culture)», «Drawing».

«The changes made to the standard curriculum of general secondary education are aimed at improving the educational process, as well as improving the quality of education,» the department added.
