Belarus has already harvested more than 3 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learnt from the main plant growing department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs. The highest yield is in the Minsk oblast: 639,200 tonnes. The Minsk oblast has outperformed the previous leader, Gomel oblast, which has cropped 629,500 tonnes. With 617,000 tonnes, the Brest oblast is also in the top three. The Grodno oblast has harvested 593,000 tonnes, Mogilev 330,000 tonnes, Vitebsk oblast 193,000 tonnes.
The yield this year is 36.7 centners per hectare and is six centners higher than last year. The highest yield is in the Grodno oblast: 46.5 centners per hectare (10 centers higher than last year). The yield in the Brest oblast is 37.7 centners per hectare; almost 36.8 centners per hectare in Mogilev and 35.9 centners per hectare in the Minsk oblast.
Gomel oblast has harvested 60.3% of the total cropping area. It is followed by the Brest oblast (46.5%), Grodno oblast (37%), Minsk (30%), Mogilev (27.5%), the Vitebsk oblast (16%).
Some 57,500 hectares, or 2.5% of the total area, were harvested on August 3. The task has been set to speed up the brewer’s barley harvest campaign and to complete winter rape harvesting within the next two days.
