Belarusian scientists have designed a unique set of equipment for heart surgery without artificial circulation, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Piotr Vityaz said during an online conference on the BelTA website. Unlike foreign-made competitor Octopus the Belarusian novelty can be used for up to 300 surgeries. The reusable Belarusian product costs $2,500 while the expendable Octopus costs $450. Belarusian scientists have demonstrated many breakthrough technologies and medical equipment in recent years. This year saw the first successful liver transplantation surgery in Belarus. According to WHO experts, it indicates the highest healthcare development level and surgery development in the country. Belarusian cardiologists have created a cardiac ventricle support device for people suffering from cardiac insufficiency, have designed and introduced methods for differentiated surgical treatment of auricular fibrillation patients. The number of novelties includes flexible waveguides for ultrasound examination. Twelve patients have already had blood circulation restored in affected vessels. Belarus has also developed a universal vertebra endocorrector-fixator and a technology for surgical correction and stability of major vertebra deformations. A new method and software for 3D imaging of affected joints have been created. The novelty allows detecting changes in an articular cartilage at an early stage of the pathology development. It will allow improving the objectiveness of estimations of articular cartilage changes before and after surgeries. БЕЛТА
