The Council of Ministers of Belarus issued Resolution No1942 on December 16, 2008 to impose new utility tariffs, BelTA learnt from the Council of Ministers’ Office. The tariff on engineering service of residential houses will be up 11.8% as compared to the effective tariff. The tariffs on heat energy and hot water supply have been revised upward by 15.6%, on cold water supply by 20%. The tariff on disposal of solid waste has been increased by 18.9% and the one on the use of elevators by 20%. Starting January 1, 2009 electrical energy will cost Br173.3 pr 1kWt. The electricity tariffs are differentiated in terms of the time of consumption. The electricity consumed from 22h00 to 17h00 (the period of minimum load) will be Br121.1, from 17h00 to 22h00 (maximum load) Br346 per 1kWt. The tariffs on electrical energy for the houses (apartments) fitted with gas stoves will be Br125.3 per 1kWt (Br87.7 during the period of minimum load and Br250.6 during the maximum load time). Resolution No1942 has been adopted in pursuance with a subparagraph of the President’s decree No604 “On the measures to increase the efficiency of the utility industry” of October 6, 2006 and enters into force on January 1, 2009. A reminder, this year the tariffs on utility services have been revised two times on January 1 and May 1. In January-August 2008, the tariffs were increased by $9.1 in equivalent per two-room apartment. БЕЛТА
