MINSK, March 4 (BelTA) – In 2008, Belarus increased the export of practically all types of goods, Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov told a session in the Foreign Ministry on March 4. The session is attended by Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky. According to Sergei Martynov, favourable conditions for Belarusian products to enter foreign markets were in place in 2008. There has been a steady upward trend in Belarusian export for the past six years. “In 2008 Belarusian export hit $33 billion, which is a record high, or 30% up as against 2007,” the official said. In monetary terms, the export increased the most across such products as oil products (up to $3.2 billion), potash fertilisers (around $2 billion), oil ($504 million). “Even without these marketable goods, the export growth made up 19.3% as against 2007,” the Foreign Minister added. He noted that along with the increase in exports to traditional markets, in 2008 Belarus launched exports to Panama, Laos, Nigeria, Uruguay, Togo and other countries. Belarus expanded the range of exported goods as well. Belarusian buses were exported to Germany, Armenia, Slovakia, Latvia, Venezuela, Sweden while Belarusian tractors and tractor trucks were supplied to Angola, Nigeria, Turkey and other countries, Sergei Martynov said. According to the minister, the session will consider the results of the foreign and economic activity and the strategy for the future. Attending the session of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry are ministers, heads of government agencies, representatives of the Presidential Administration, some Belarusian establishments abroad, big exporters.
