MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan plans to carry out several joint projects in Belarus. In particular, the projects envisage the recreation of Belarusian children in Japan and the minimization of Chernobyl catastrophe consequences. The information was released by Gennady Davydko, Deputy Chairman of the Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media Commission of the House of Representatives, head of the National Assembly’s working group for cooperation with the Japanese parliament, on 23 October. BelTA reported earlier that Yoshinori Ohno, President of the Association for Friendship and Parliamentary Ties with the Republic of Belarus, met with members of the House of Representatives in Minsk on 23 October. Gennady Davydko believes that the visit of such a respected politician to Belarus will boost relations between the two countries. According to the MP, Belarus is now very interested in restoring the attraction of Japanese investments into the Belarusian economy. “There are reasons to believe that our lax relations are becoming dynamic. Parliamentarians of Belarus and Japan intend to foster it,” said Gennady Davydko. In turn, Yoshinori Ohno said that the Japanese and Belarusian nations have a lot in common. “Both the nations have suffered from radiation and defend the idea of a world without nuclear weapons. Both the sides are intent on mutually beneficial cooperation,” remarked the foreign guest. He remarked that Japan’s actions are guided by the Buddhist proverb: “Help another man and he will help you”. “If Japan helps Belarus, the help will be returned soon, and Belarus will help Japan,” said Yoshinori Ohno. The Japanese parliamentarian called upon his Belarusian colleagues to unite efforts to address security-related issues in the international arena. БЕЛТА
