MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) – The interest of foreign investors in Belarus grows by the year, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov told reporters at Belarus’ Investment and Economic Forum in Minsk on 13 November, BelTA has learnt. “Foreign investors have a genuine interest in Belarus,” Andrei Kobyakov said. He refuted allegations of some analysts that in the time of crisis the heightened interest in Belarus is abnormal. The Vice-Premier said that the forum gathered about 700 participants, of them 450 were foreigners representing more than 60 countries. “We are talking about the growth in the interest in our forum and Belarus. Such forums used to attract mostly scholars and representatives of public organizations, now the bulk of participants is made up of companies and producers. The interest of investors in the forum was demonstrated in the fact that there was not enough room for all of them during the opening of the forum,” he said. The participants of the forum made assessment of Belarus’ economic policy during the crisis. Some countries, even liberal ones, started to buy up assets in order to manage them “in a reasonable way and thus overcome the crisis.” “We did not have to do it this way as we saved our economy by choosing a model where state regulation prevails,” the Vice Premier said. Andrei Kobyakov underlined that the world is changing and the state involvement in the economic development will only strengthen. БЕЛТА
