MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – Belarus is always ready for a civilized dialogue with European institutions, said Chairman of the Permanent Commission for Regional Policy and Local Governance of the Council of the Republic Gennady Novitsky as he met with Director of the Council of Europe’s Directorate of Democratic Institutions Childerik Schaapveld on 4 February. Belarus and the Council of Europe are gradually intensifying their cooperation, according to Gennady Novitsky. “Belarus has always considered itself a civilized European country regardless of the certain nature of relations with the European Union,” said Gennady Novitsky. Childerik Schaapveld, in turn, acknowledged that the dialogue between Belarus and European institutions has been intensified. The increase in the number of contacts at various levels attest to this fact. He also said that his directorate pays a special attention to the efficiency and quality of governance, including the local one. Childerik Schaapveld proposed to discuss this issue during the meeting. БЕЛТА
