MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – The Governments of Belarus and the Russian Federation signed an agreement on temporary import and export of transport vehicles, BelTA learnt from the State Customs Committee of Belarus. The agreement came into force on 25 February 2010. The major goal of the intergovernmental agreement on temporary import and export of transport vehicles is to simplify the movement of all kinds of transport vehicles within the Union State territory despite the country they are registered in. The agreement was signed to conciliate the national legislations of Belarus and Russia in part of defining the order of registration and customs clearance of temporary imported vehicles which are registered in other foreign state to the territory of the Union State, the committee said. The agreement aims to enforce unified approaches in customs registration and customs clearance of transport vehicles temporary imported to or exported from the customs territories of the two countries. Transport vehicles registered in a foreign state and which are temporary imported to the customs territories of Belarus and Russia will undergo customs clearance at the external customs border of Belarus and Russia. The preliminary term for temporary import of foreign transport vehicles will be three months. The agreement envisages a possibility to prolong the term of the temporary import of foreign transport vehicles for international freight and/or passenger hauls as well as foreign transport vehicles temporary imported by the nationals of the two countries up to six months from the date of their import. The document also provides for prolonging the term of the temporary import of foreign transport vehicles by foreigners up to 12 months from the date of their import. Vehicles registered in the Republic of Belarus or the Russian Federation will cross the Belarusian-Russian border freely. БЕЛТА
