MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – Transport and logistics centers will be built in Belarus using investments of the German bank Landesbank Baden-Wurttemberg. The implementation of investment projects in the area of customs and transport logistics service was discussed at a session of the State Customs Committee of Belarus on 26 March. Representatives of Landesbank Baden-Wurttemberg and German companies took part in the session, BelTA has learned. The sides intend to talk over cooperation in designing and building transport and logistics centers and service areas of Beltamozhservis company in Belarus. Leonid Dosov, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, remarked that Belarus’ western border is the border between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Community. “Nowadays the border has to operate well to prevent any problems with the flow of commodities and transport,” he remarked. Belarus has created an advanced European-level infrastructure, which ensures smooth operation of the customs control and clearance at the border. It is insufficient today, it is necessary and possible to develop transport and logistics centers in Belarus. At present a program meant to develop the logistics system till 2015 is being implemented in Belarus. Beltamozhservis, which is implementing investment projects meant to set up transport and logistics centers in the Minsk Oblast (Minsk-Beltamozhservis at premises of the company KMK-Inturist), takes an active part in the program. In addition, logistics centers Gomelavto at premises of the company Gomel ATEP (Brest-Beltamozhservis and Mogilev-Beltamozhservis) are being built. A logistics center in a new location of the transport and logistics terminal Shchitomirichi (Minsk Region) is being built along with service zones of the border cargo terminal Kozlovichi-2 (Brest) and the border checkpoint Kammeny Log (Oshmiany Region). In order to attract investments for the projects, negotiations with German investors and construction companies have been held, including negotiations about their participation in designing and building the installations. According to Leonid Dosov, the first phase of the customs and logistics center of Beltamozhservis company operates now. The money it earns is invested in the second phase of the construction project. “We intend to complete the construction as soon as possible,” said the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee. After the second phase is commissioned, the third phase construction will begin. A restaurant, a hotel, a water sports complex and other infrastructure required for comfortable stay of drivers, representatives of Belarusian and foreign companies will be built. Thus, apart from warehouse services the center will offer other ones relating to customs. “But in order to accelerate the development of transport and logistics centers in Belarus, it is profitable for us to attract investments, particularly investments from such a respectable bank Landesbank Baden-Wurttemberg is,” said the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee.
