The Latvian delegation will be led by Minister of the Environment Raimonds Vejonis, the Belarusian delegation will be headed by Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Vladimir Tsalko. The agreement will help coordinate the efforts aimed at safeguarding and sustainable utilization of transboundary natural complexes and facilities of the transboundary nature reserves. The two sides will develop management plans for such territories, cooperate in conducting scientific research, monitor and invite international organizations and donor-countries to the cooperation. The Belarusian Ministry attaches great significance to signing and implementation of bilateral agreements in the environmental protection, first of all with the neighboring countries. Ministerial agreements play an important role in the process. The development of bilateral relations in the issues of transboundary nature reserves development and functioning as one of the major areas of the international cooperation is prioritized in the national strategy to develop and manage the system of nature reserves slated for completion in 2015.
