MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Belarus has always been and will stay an important factor contributing to the security and stability on the European continent and in the international arena, says the address by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to participants of a special solemn session of the UN General Assembly that opened in New York on 6 May to mark the 65th anniversary of the Victory in World War Two. “My nation is genetically programmed to understand that any confrontation between countries threatens lives because it can grow into a global catastrophe. This is why the sovereign Belarus insistently and consistently pursues a purely peace-loving policy!” said the Belarus President. Alexander Lukashenko is proud because Belarus had made a major contribution to the Great Victory over fascism together with other Soviet Union nations. The tragic experience of World War Two led the community of nations, including Belarus, to establish the United Nations Organization. Belarus is a reliable partner of the United Nations Organization in fighting the illegal spread of nuclear weapons and nuclear materials, illegal drugs, slave trade, illegal migration and attempts to revise World War Two results, said Alexander Lukashenko. The President of Belarus regrets that many causes of military conflicts have not been addressed. They require joint resolute actions of all the countries. “This alarming list includes the strive for world domination, poverty, artificial trade barriers, xenophobia and fanaticism, disregard of a nation’s right to its own way of development and the enforcement of one model for everyone,” said Alexander Lukashenko. “We, the Belarusians, will continue doing our best to ensure cooperation, peace and stability,” concluded Alexander Lukashenko. The President of Belarus congratulated participants of the session on the oncoming Great Victory celebration. БЕЛТА
