MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – Despite the geographical distance, Belarus and Vietnam have every opportunity to make considerable progress in their relations, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Vietnam President Nguyen Minh Triet on 13 May. According to Alexander Lukashenko, Vietnam is Belarus’ major partner in Southeast Asia and a platform for Belarus to explore the region. He invited the Vietnamese side to use Belarus’ potential for penetrating into the markets of the CIS, Eastern and Central Europe. “We pay great attention to the relations with Vietnam, a powerful state and an active member of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations,” the Belarusian leader said. Recalling his visit to Vietnam in April 2008 the President of Belarus reiterated that then the two countries demonstrated their readiness to work jointly for the benefit of the bilateral relations. According to the President, the two counties have already confirmed their partnership in tens of international agreements. Both the countries stay committed to the formation of the multi-polar world order and the compliance with the international law. According to the Belarusian head of state, Belarus and Vietnam have similar social and economic development models which proved efficient considering the development pace of the two states. “A high level of mutual trust and respect has become a solid ground for building up the economic constituent of the bilateral relations,” the Belarusian leader said. Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that during the visit of the Vietnam President to Belarus and the forthcoming business forum they two sides will be able to negotiate the ways of intensifying the trade and economic relations in order to bring them to a qualitatively new level. “I hope you visit to Belarus will promote bilateral all-round contacts,” said the President of Belarus addressing the high guest. Alexander Lukashenko also assured the Vietnamese leader that Belarus would make everything possible to reach the joint goals. БЕЛТА
