MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in using Chinese innovative technologies to create new high-tech enterprises in Belarus, Igor Voitov, Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology, told a session of the working commission for scientific and technical cooperation between Belarus and the Chinese province of Shandong on 2 August. “We are interested in attracting advanced technologies of China to our enterprises,” said the head of the committee. “We are now seeking several high-tech enterprises in China in order to set up similar ones with Chinese partners in Belarus”. Igor Voitov specified, there are plans for joint projects relating to automobiles, production of liquid crystal panels, machine tools. Belarus also offers China cooperation in chemical industry, including deep oil processing. There are plans for projects aimed at developing and manufacturing electric communication equipment, creating new technologies for power engineering and road construction. “We will hand over a list of possible projects to you. Some of your companies may be interested in setting up high-tech enterprises in Belarus,” Igor Voitov told the Shandong province delegation. The head of the State Committee for Science and Technology remarked that Belarus has stepped up cooperation with Chinese provinces lately in all spheres. “It is necessary to more vigorously continue working on joint scientific and technical projects, programs and actions,” believes Igor Voitov. Over the last two years Belarusian and Chinese specialists have accomplished 16 joint scientific and technical projects. Meanwhile, the potential for expanding cooperation is much larger, Igor Voitov is convinced. He remarked that Belarusian-Chinese cooperation develops not only in the sphere of science and technology but also in education. Belarusian and Chinese universities have signed over 100 direct agreements on cooperation in science and education.
