MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Bryansk Oblast intend to set up joint ventures in agribusiness, said Ivan Danchenko, Chairman of the state food industry concern Belgospischeprom, on 27 August. Ivan Danchenko is also the head of the Belarusian part of the working group in charge of Belarus’ trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation with Bryansk Oblast. According to the official, authorities of the bordering districts of Gomel and Mogilev oblasts will set up joint ventures in cooperation with businesses of Bryansk Oblast. The joint ventures are supposed to utilize unused farmlands of Bryansk Oblast. They are supposed to start by tilling the land and sowing it with Belarus-selected seeds. Belarusian technologies and machines will be used. “We are interested in setting up major dairy farms and agricultural enterprises,” said the official. “The juridical form of creating such joint enterprises is being tested. The joint ventures can exist as joint ventures, open joint-stock companies and farming enterprises. We are starting exporting Belarusian capital in order to create joint ventures in Russia and sell their products in Russian regions. The Belarusian side is interested in using the joint ventures to increase the export potential and earn hard currency”. “Using the new farmlands in Russia, Belarusian investors will employ their own technologies, seeds and machines. In the end there are plans to increase the capacity of processing enterprises in Bryansk Oblast,” said Ivan Danchenko. In turn, Bryansk Oblast is ready to provide preferences to Belarusian investors. Belarus is also interested in potato growing cooperation with Bryansk Oblast. The region is Russia’s leader in potato production. Belarusian potato varieties are highly recommended there. Efforts will continue to renew potato varieties. Belarus intends to use the best potato product practices of Bryansk Oblast. “Complementing each other, we should create decent competition against imported potato products,” said Ivan Danchenko. At present Belarus is a reliable supplier of dairy and meat products to Russian regions, including Bryansk and the oblast. The sales grow by 10-15% every year, said the head of Belgospischeprom. In addition, Belarusian companies have their representations in Bryansk Oblast, in particular, Bellakt and Krinitsa. Bryansk Oblast uses genetic and breeding technologies in animal husbandry a lot as well as new Belarus-selected agricultural crop varieties, namely winter colza, lupine and cereal crops. БЕЛТА
