MINSK, 1 September (BelTA) – Taking care of every person, adults and children alike, has always been and will be the key task in Belarus’ policy, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he opened a new school in the village of Borovlyany, Minsk District, on 1 September. “Whatever hardships we may face, care for people, little and big ones, adults and children, has always been and will be the key topic on the agenda of Belarus’ policy,” said the President. “In the world there are many criteria to define the level of development and wellbeing of a country. But you cannot disagree that true happiness depends on simple and truly eternal values – health, the family you love, a comfortable home, the ability to get good education and have a decent job. It is important for me as a president to monitor these indicators,” said the head of state. Alexander Lukashenko pointed out the growing number of families and the rising birthrate, which, in turn, determine the development of the economy, housing construction and the creation of new jobs. “In other words Belarus is growing, getting younger and looks into the future with confidence. I am convinced that if these criteria were used to evaluate countries, our country could claim the highest rating in the world,” believes the head of state. In his words, it has become a good tradition to open new schools on 1 September. The present Day of Knowledge has become the birthday of four new schools at once. The President believes that the school in Borovlyany has the most interesting fate. Mothers and students of the Borovlyany children’s village shared their dream of a new school with the head of state in late 2007. Back then children from Borovlyany and other communities nearby were crammed into educational institutions of the town of Lesnoi. “I’ve done what I promised. It is up to you now,” said Alexander Lukashenko. “It is important for the school to become a center for training smart, beautiful, talented and strong kids, who are dedicated to their country. We need it a lot. This is the way we will move along”. This year will be even more remarkable for many children because along with a new school they have finally found a new family and a home of their own in the children’s village “Istoki”, said the President. “There are no someone else's kids for us. The government is responsible for their destiny. Together we should do our best to let every child to find a family of their own,” stressed the head of state. Alexander Lukashenko asked the children to take good care of their new school and asked the teachers to use their mastery, love for teaching and love for children to find a way into the heart of every child, to stir up the thirst for knowledge in them. Back in 2007 when President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited the “SOS Children’s Village” in Borovlyany, he said that a program to resettle orphans from boarding schools to families, children’s villages that use family approaches to childcare, has been deployed in the country. While in 2007 there were 71 orphanages in Belarus, the number has been reduced by 20% to 57 orphanages. The number of children they take care of has been reduced by 25%. Specialists of the Education Ministry believe it is a very good indicator. БЕЛТА
