MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) – Some Belarusian regulations concerning the collection of indirect taxes in the Customs Union have been corrected. The press service of the Belarusian head of state told BelTA that Alexander Lukashenko signed decree No 7 to amend several presidential decrees that regulate the collection of indirect taxes in the Customs Union on 13 September. The decree is supposed to bring existing regulations into compliance with the Customs Union agreement on collecting indirect taxes from exported commodities and services of 25 January 2008 and relevant protocols to the agreement. The new decree has invalidated several clauses of decree No 10 that was signed on 6 September 2005 to lay down measures required to implement the Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on principles of collecting indirect taxes from exported and imported commodities and services (the agreement was signed in Astana on 15 September 2004). Decree No 10 of 6 September 2005 also laid down amendments and addenda to several decrees of the President of Belarus. The clauses used to set preferential rates of value added tax and excise duties on imports from the Russian Federation. In addition, changes will be introduced to the regulations that provide exceptions from the preferences granted to imports from the Russian Federation. Because the Customs Union’s Customs Code Treaty came into force on 1 July 2010, the terms “customs territory of the Republic of Belarus” and “customs border of the Republic of Belarus” are no longer used. All customs legal relationships will arise as commodities cross the customs border of the Customs Union and are used in the united customs territory of the Customs Union. The decree comes into force the day it is published. Its effect is applicable to relations that have emerged since 1 July 2010. БЕЛТА
