MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – Very soon there will be appointed EU Ambassador to Belarus. The European Commission has announced a contest for the post, BelTA learnt from the EU Office in Belarus. The application of documents for the participation in the contest was completed on 10 September. Brussels is now conducting candidate assessment procedures. The officials of the European Commission and the EU Council as well as the EU diplomats were able to take part in the contest, according to the EU Office in Belarus. The EU Office in Belarus is currently headed by EU Charge d'affaires a.i. in Minsk Jean-Eric Holzapfel. The decision to appoint the Ambassador followed the Lisbon Treaty coming into effect and the formation of the European External Action Service. БЕЛТА
