MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) - Representatives of Belarus and Venezuela signed 12 memorandums in Minsk National Airport before the departure of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. These are the documents on cooperation in various areas, First Vice-Premier Vladimir Semashko told reporters. In addition to assembly plants of tractors and MAZ trucks in Venezuela there are plans to build a facility to manufacture road machinery and metal mesh. Vladimir Semashko stressed that while constructing the plants it is necessary to learn quickly how to sell manufactured equipment. The management companies engaged in the construction have already started dealing with this issue. In the morning of October 18 Hugo Chavez visited a testing field to get familiar with the performance of the MTZ 3022 heavy-duty tractor made by the Minsk Tractor Works. A document was signed to deliver 10 tractors together with attachable implements to Venezuela. “They can do four operations at one go: plow, sow, apply fertilizers…,” the Venezuelan leader said. For his part, Vladimir Semashko noted that in the future we these can be the deliveries of hundreds of such tractors to Venezuela. The countries will continue cooperation in construction industry. According to the First Vice-Premier, Belarus is already involved in residential construction in Maracay. Earlier Belarusian builders constructed only 4 or 5-storiey buildings in Venezuela, now these are 12 to 14-storey houses. In particular, there are plans to construct nearly 3,000 apartments as well as a residential area for the Venezuelan military. The construction projects will be also carried out in the city of Barinos. Taking into account the fact that large-scale construction programs require a relevant level of industrialization, there are plans to construct a brick plant and a panel housing construction factory in Venezuela. Besides, Belarus is ready to construct five agro-towns in Venezuela. Taking into consideration Venezuelan enormous resources in fuel oil, natural gas and other hydrocarbon fuel, Belarus intends to construct thermal power stations there including a 1,000MW heat power station near the plants producing tractors, trucks, etc. Hugo Chavez expressed deep interest in the Belarusian light industry. The Venezuelan side is ready to partake in corporization of several Belarusian companies. Setting up satellite companies are also among the plans of the two countries. The two parties reached agreements in woodworking sector as well as on the supplies of waste treatment equipment. According to Vladimir Semashko, the memorandums are expected to turn into concrete agreements within the next several months. The Vice Premier stressed that Venezuela is a country with a population of 27 million, i.e. a huge promising market for Belarusian tractors. For that a trading house is to be opened in Venezuela.
